Faenza ceramics: the art of the craftsman and ceramic studios
Faenza’s ceramic tradition goes back centuries and today it continues to play an important role as an expression of art and craft. Due to its geographical position, the town is a hybrid mix of Tuscan culture and that of the Po Valley region, and has been a major centre for ceramics since Medieval times.
The reputation of these products is so great that majolica pottery is known throughout the world by the French name faience.
The Ceramics Hall at Hotel Vittoria has a large display of some of the most important examples of traditional and contemporary ceramics.
